Job summary

Atlas Tech seeks a motivated Python Developer to define, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software and hardware infrastructure on Linux-based systems for DoD missions.

The role supports Navy customers with a strong Linux background and networking knowledge. Telework up to two days weekly is allowed, subject to customer needs and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience.
• Experience programming in Python and Linux command line.
• Familiarity with version control and scripting tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced military IT environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.
• Work with container technologies (Docker/Podman).
• Instantiate and administer Red Hat virtual machines (KVM).
• Develop applications using Python.
• Research and resolve software bugs.
• Maintain source code in Git repositories.
• Perform testbed demos and proofs of concept for leadership.
• Assist SMEs with ECR requirements and software documentation.

Atlas Tech, a veteran-owned IT company serving multiple DoD customers in support of America's warfighters, is seeking a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented Python Developer to support our Navy customer by defining, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting software and hardware infrastructure on Linux-based systems. As part of a dynamic engineering team, you will help meet critical technical requirements for military operations. Candidates with a strong Linux development background, reinforced by networking knowledge, are encouraged to apply and bring their passion for engineering, software development, and cutting-edge technologies to our organization.

This position allows for telework up to 2 days per week. However, Atlas reserves the right to adjust the schedule, if required to meet the needs of our customer.

Travel Up To - 10%

You Will:

• Develop solutions on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers
• Work with container technologies (Docker/Podman)
• Instantiate and administer Red Hat virtual machines (KVM)
• Develop applications using Python
• Research and resolve software bugs
• Maintain source code in software repositories (Git)
• Perform testbed demos and proofs of concept to leadership
• Assist subject matter experts with software engineering change request (ECR) requirements and software documentation

You Have:

• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance
• The ability to maintain a DoD IAT II certification
• Experience with Red Hat or similar Linux distributions
• Experience with creating Linux Bash scripts
• Experience with programming in Python
• Familiarity with layer 2 & 3 switch and router technologies
• A passion for learning about, and working in the IT industry
• Strong documentation and oral communication skills to clearly communicate with all levels of users, engineers, managers and organizations
• The ability to work with others in a highly collaborative environment
• The ability to multi-task and balance multiple goals and priorities
• A self-motivated, strong work ethic and commitment to quality

We’d be Impressed if You Had:

• Experience with Navy systems

Education/Experience:

• BS Degree in relevant technical field or combination of education and experience
• Ability to obtain the following certs within 3 months of start date:
• CompTIA Security+ CE
• Professional Scrum Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification
