Long-term contract with a major financial firm in Newark, NJ.

Hybrid work: 3 days/week onsite.

Our Front Office technology team operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with exciting changes under new senior leadership. We are seeking a senior software engineer to help build our next-generation portfolio management and trading systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement investment decision support services across all fixed income domains.
• Maintain and enhance existing portfolio management applications in Java and Python.
• Collaborate closely with quantitative solutions and other front office investment teams.
• Build and maintain application services critical to our front office systems.

Required Skills:

• 6+ years of experience in front office and related application development.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Solid knowledge of fixed income markets.
• Proactive with a strong ownership mentality.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
• Experience with SDLC tools such as Git, Jira, Docker, Jenkins.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Java or C++ development experience.
• Knowledge of financial market data sources like Bloomberg, S&P, Moody's, ICE.
• Experience with investment universe customization and back testing.
• Direct support experience for front office end-users (PMs, Quants).
