Job summary

Brooksource in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a Senior Python/Django Developer to help build an AI-powered platform within a large-scale enterprise. The role focuses on backend systems, cloud-native services, AI integrations, and intelligent document workflows on Google Cloud.

You will own backend architecture, implement RESTful APIs, and collaborate across Solution Architects, Product, QA, and Design teams, with a strong emphasis on production readiness and secure coding practices.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional Python development experience.
• 2+ years of Django and Django REST Framework experience.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API development and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with Vertex AI or similar LLM platforms.

Location: Mostly on-site; flexibility for hyrid over time – Kansas City, Missouri

Duration: 12-Month Contract with strong likelihood for extension and/or full-time hire

We are seeking a Python/Django Developer to join a high-impact engineering initiative focused on building an AI-powered platform that streamlines project workflows and automates intelligent response generation within a large-scale enterprise environment.

This role will play a key part in developing backend systems, cloud-native services, AI integrations, and intelligent document retrieval capabilities within a modern Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem. The ideal candidate is highly hands-on, comfortable owning backend architecture and development, and excited about applying AI/LLM technologies in real-world enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python and Django
• Build and support integrations with enterprise project management and workflow systems
• Develop AI-powered processing pipelines leveraging Vertex AI and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
• Implement semantic search and intelligent document retrieval capabilities across large document repositories
• Build and manage GCP-based infrastructure including compute, storage, messaging, and orchestration services
• Create notification and workflow automation systems supporting operational review processes
• Implement logging, monitoring, auditing, and traceability capabilities across backend systems
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Solution Architects, Product stakeholders, QA, and Design teams

• Support testing, deployment, and production readiness efforts
• Contribute to technical documentation, architecture discussions, and deployment procedures

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional Python development experience
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Django and Django REST Framework
• Strong understanding of RESTful API development and webhook/event-driven architectures
• Experience building scalable backend services and asynchronous processing systems
• Hands-on experience working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience with services such as:
• Cloud Functions
• Pub/Sub
• BigQuery
• Familiarity with GCP IAM, security practices, and cloud-native architecture patterns
• Experience working with Vertex AI or similar LLM/foundation model platforms
• Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts and semantic/vector search
• Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs into production applications
• Familiarity with document ingestion and intelligent data extraction pipelines
• Strong Git and CI/CD experience
