Role Summary

Seeking an experienced Python API Lead Developer to lead the design, development, security, and deployment of enterprise-grade REST APIs in an AWS cloud environment. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Python/FastAPI, cloud-native API architecture, and modern API security standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance REST APIs using Python and FastAPI.


• Define and maintain API specifications using OpenAPI/Swagger.


• Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, and mTLS.


• Deploy, manage, and secure APIs using AWS API Gateway and related AWS services.


• Configure and support AWS security components including ACM, Private CA, WAF, and Shield.


• Perform API testing, validation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.


• Ensure compliance with healthcare security requirements, including HIPAA and secure handling of PHI.


• Support CI/CD pipelines and source control best practices.

Required Skills

• Strong experience in Python, FastAPI, and REST API development.


• Expertise in OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, and API security best practices.


• Hands-on experience with AWS API Gateway, Lambda, S3, EKS, CloudWatch, ACM, and WAF.


• Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, and API testing tools.


• 3-5+ years of AWS cloud development and deployment experience.


• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.


• Prior experience working in HIPAA-compliant environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Developer Associate.


• Experience integrating APIs with identity providers such as Okta.
