Qualifications

Position Summary

The Risk Position within Private Wealth Management (“PWM”) will support the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of risk across PWM business activities while helping promote a strong risk and control environment. This role will partner with business leaders, Private Wealth Advisors/ Financial Advisors, client service teams, control partners, and stakeholders across PWM client segments to understand business-specific risks, support consistent risk management practices, and align controls, reporting, and escalation processes across the broader PWM platform. The individual will evaluate business processes, review risk indicators, support issue escalation, and help ensure adherence to applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations. Responsibilities will also include leading risk-related audit activities, including preparation of materials, stakeholder coordination, documentation of key processes and controls, support during audit fieldwork, follow-ups, and remediation tracking. The successful candidate will bring strong judgment, analytical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate risk matters clearly across all levels of the organization. The role requires integrity, discretion, and a proactive mindset, including the ability to identify emerging risks, strengthen control processes, and pursue opportunities to automate manual risk, control, reporting, and monitoring processes to improve efficiency, consistency, transparency, and scalability across PWM.


Experience

Registrations required: Series 7 and Series 63 or 66 upon 180 days of hire
7+ years’ experience in financial services, wealth management and risk related fields
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA highly preferred
Experience with Ultra High-Net Worth clients/ working within a Family Office highly preferred.
Strong understanding of investment products across all asset classes
Outstanding team working, relationship building, and cross-collaboration skills
Excellent organization and prioritization skills
High level of attention to detail, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
A track record of success and a demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and discretion

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 115,000 and 190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
