Job summary

Pouring With Heart is seeking an Assistant General Manager at Idle Beer Hall & Brewing to work alongside the GM to identify growth areas and develop leadership skills. This role blends learning with active management to advance toward a General Manager position.

The successful candidate will guide daily operations, shape cocktail programs, manage events, and mentor staff while upholding our values of community and hospitality.

Qualifications

• Prior bar or managerial experience in hospitality.
• 3+ years of bartending experience in a high-volume or cocktail focused environment preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while keeping a calm, positive demeanor.
• Strong product knowledge in spirits, beer, and cocktails with curiosity to expand expertise.
• Ability to balance creativity with financial awareness (menu costing, waste reduction, ROI tracking).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with both staff and guests.
• Team-oriented leader with the ability to delegate, coach, and support peers.
• Must be 21+ and hold valid certifications for responsible beverage service (varies by state).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on cocktail menus, ensuring creativity, guest appeal, and cost-efficiency.
• Support planning and execution of events, activations, and community engagements aligned with the bar’s brand.
• Partner with vendors and marketing teams to drive exposure, awareness, and revenue growth.
• Close the bar and handle cash nightly from drops and tip outs.
• Track guest feedback, event ROI, and revenue trends to inform decision-making.
• Assist with weekly budgets, inventory, and ordering to support financial goals.
• Develop systems that improve consistency in service, prep, and operations.
• Support the Bar Leadership Team by leading by example, mentoring peers, and fostering a culture of hospitality and accountability.
• Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and leadership development workshops.

The Role…

As the Assistant General Manager in the Bar Leadership Team, you will work directly with your GM to identify areas for growth, develop new skills, and build your foundation for leadership. This role is designed as both a learning path to become a General Manager and an active management position within the bar. The GM has the autonomy to assign this position tasks, projects, and priorities that reflect both the needs of the bar and your development.
