Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

California Faucets is looking to bring on a 1st Shift Machine Operator. This role is based on-site in our Huntington Beach, CA facility. The hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, full-time from 5:15 am-2:00 pm.

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) vacuum coating machines under the supervision and direction of the Production Manager. This job is responsible for the setup, monitoring, and basic maintenance of PVD coating machines. The position largely entails loading and unloading of machines, basic preventative maintenance, and inputting of parameters into a Windows-based PLC.

Duties of the position include the following:

  • Operating and maintaining PVD coating machines according to company specifications.
  • Minimizing equipment downtime through preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Maintaining and updating equipment PM logs.
  • Learning fixturing techniques and requirements for proper PVD processing.
  • Providing training assistance to other employees.
  • Assisting with quality assurance and other technical matters.
  • Product handling, including properly fixturing onto racks.
  • Loading and unloading fixtured components from the coating machine to maintain production flow.
  • Quality control of uncoated and coated parts and deposition processes.
  • Troubleshooting of potential machine failures.
  • Supporting our engineering team.
  • Monitoring and ensuring availability of appropriate supplies of process gases.
  • Raising any machining or quality issues with appropriate supervision or engineering support.
  • Maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and following prescribed safety regulations.
  • Performing additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Requirements:

  • Ability to follow instructions and comply with all safety regulations including the use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of lift trucks and machinery.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Environmental and Safety Considerations:

  • Possible exposure to heat, cold, dust, and moderate noise when working indoors.
  • Must be able to follow proper lifting techniques.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

People Interface:

The position requires contact with the Production Department, Cleaning Line, and Quality Control.

Supervision Received:

Under general supervision, assignments are both task-oriented and objective-oriented. Follows established procedures for routine work; receives specific instruction on non-routine problems.

Accountabilities:

After adequate training, the position requires a level of accountability to complete a pre-determined amount of work per shift.

Education and Experience:

  • The minimum educational requirement to successfully perform this position is a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
  • Hands-on and working knowledge of mechanical and computer-controlled machinery.
  • Familiarity with computer programming and measuring tools.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing similar work in a related field such as Manufacturing, or a Machine Shop is .
  • Experience in a vacuum coating field is a plus.
  • Knowledge of PVD Coatings is a plus.
  • Previous experience with vacuum equipment or a related industry is strongly desired.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and use hands to finger. The employee is frequently required to stand extended periods of time, for 8 hours or more in a given day; reach with hands and arms below and above shoulder; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist or crawl. The employee may be required to lift/carry 1-50 pounds when necessary. The employee will also need vision abilities to include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
