Job summary

Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation is seeking an Offensive Security Engineer to perform threat emulation and purple team exercises across enterprise networks, cloud, and endpoints. The role partners with SOC and engineering to validate detections, responses, and remediation strategies.

The candidate will develop tools and scripts, map activity to MITRE ATT&CK, and communicate findings to leadership. Strong scripting skills, security operations awareness, and cloud experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
• In lieu of a degree, associate degree + 3 years information security engineering experience or high school diploma + 5 years experience will be considered.
• Solid knowledge of network, application, and cloud security (Windows and Linux).
• Working knowledge of offensive security tools (Metasploit, Cobalt Strike, Burp Suite, Nmap).
• Experience collaborating with SOC/Blue Team to improve detection and incident response maturity.

Responsibilities

• Conducts intelligence-led threat emulation and purple team exercises across networks, apps, and cloud.
• Develops and maintains custom tools, scripts, and payloads for testing.
• Performs vulnerability remediation testing to validate fixes and compensating controls.
• Maps emulated activity to MITRE ATT&CK techniques and tracks coverage.
• Presents findings and remediation guidance to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Keeps detections and playbooks aligned with evolving threat trends.
