We're hiring a Feed Sales Representative - Purina Animal Nutrition to focus primarily on Cattle, Equine feed sales with our partner co-op in Walthall County MS and surrounding area. This role involves selling feed and related products to optimize market share, improve efficiency, and support the cooperative/dealer’s goals.

This is a remote (virtual) field-based sales position located within Southern Mississippi and Southern Louisiana.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  1. Calling on animal owners to evaluate feeding programs and recommend nutritional solutions.
  2. Selling and consulting at the farm gate (up to 25 farm calls per week) to grow sales and market share, including prospecting and cold calling.
  3. Organizing and conducting educational meetings for local clubs, vets, trainers, and other groups to enhance brand image, sell products, and increase store traffic.
Experience/Education
  1. Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field preferred; candidates with pending degrees or relevant experience may be considered.
  2. Previous sales experience is highly desired.
  3. Ability to make nutritional recommendations and understanding of husbandry, management practices, and industry standards.
  4. Strong computer skills, including MS Office, and ability to learn ration balancing software (HerdSmart), Salesforce, etc.
  5. Experience with Cattle, Dairy, Equine, or Lifestyle animals is a plus.

  1. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  2. High motivation, relationship-building skills, and leadership qualities.
  3. Ability to make multiple daily sales calls and interact on farms in all weather conditions.
  4. Networking skills within the industry.
  5. Physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  6. Public speaking skills.
Travel
  • Approximately 15% overnight travel, plus daily travel within the territory.
Compensation

Targeted as a base salary plus commission, with a typical range of $53,000-$65,000 plus a target bonus of $10,000. Salaries are generally offered near the midpoint based on experience.
