Join to apply for the Purina Feed Sales Rep role at Land O'Lakes, Inc.

This is a remote (virtual) field-based sales position that must be located within the geographic territory of Southwestern Montana.

We're hiring a Feed Sales Representative - Purina Animal Nutrition to focus primarily on cattle feed sales with our partner dealer in Southwestern Montana. This role involves selling feed and related products to optimize market share, improve efficiency, and help the dealer achieve their goals.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  1. Calling on cattle and sheep owners (primarily cow-calf operations) to evaluate feeding programs and recommend nutritional solutions.
  2. Selling and consulting at farm calls (up to 30 per week) to promote Purina products and grow sales, including prospecting and cold calling.
  3. Organizing educational meetings for local clubs, vets, trainers, etc., to enhance brand image, sell products, and increase store traffic.
Experience/Education
  1. Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field preferred.
  2. Candidates with pending degrees or proven sales/industry experience will be considered.
  3. Previous sales experience is highly desired.
  4. Ability to make nutritional recommendations for cattle and sheep.
  5. Understanding of husbandry, management practices, and industry knowledge.
  6. Proficiency in providing accurate feeding recommendations.
  7. Strong computer skills, including MS Office, and training on software like HerdSmart and Salesforce.
  8. Experience working with cattle and sheep.

  1. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  2. High motivation, relationship-building skills, and team leadership qualities.
  3. Ability to make multiple daily sales calls.
  4. On-farm interaction in all weather conditions.
  5. Networking ability within the industry.

  7. Public speaking skills.
Travel
  • Approximately 15% overnight travel plus daily travel within the territory.

This is a sales role with compensation comprising a base salary plus commissions. Base salary ranges from $50,000 to $60,000, depending on experience, with performance-based commissions.
