Position Summary

Selected candidates for a Level One Purchasing Specialist position will learn tasks specific to the coordination of activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for the organization. Responsibilities include reviewing requisitions, preparing purchase orders or bid requests, and conferring with vendors to obtain product or service information like price, availability, and delivery schedules. Candidates must be self-disciplined, self-motivated, and detail-oriented. Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle problems involving several variables are essential. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a clean and organized work area and adhering to safety rules. Candidates must understand ITAR compliant file sharing and transfer, and may need to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal status.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Follow policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Wear and properly manage PPE, including disposal and transfer to waste containers.
• Create and process purchase orders for raw materials, parts, and services.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, and order status.
• Monitor open orders and follow up on delays.
• Assist in sourcing new suppliers and obtaining quotes.
• Maintain accurate procurement records in ERP systems.
• Coordinate with internal departments to meet purchasing needs.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and support procurement documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within procurement.
