Description

Proof of the Pudding has spent the past four decades providing innovative menus, services, design expertise and event experiences to clients throughout Atlanta and beyond. As a preferred caterer to over 50 venues in and around Atlanta, our Off-Premise team spearheads event innovations and culinary experiences to a range of events from weddings, holiday parties, corporate retreats, and social gatherings.

We are seeking a seasoned, motivated, and innovative culinarian to join our Off-premise team as the Purchasing Sous Chef. In this position, you will assist in leading culinary aspects of events including prior planning, food and beverage purchasing, inventory management and tracking, onsite execution, and budget/invoicing work.

Responsibilities:

Culinary Job Duties

  • Be a leader on the culinary team at a variety of events. This position will focus on our offsite catering department but may lead into supporting at our other properties.
  • Execution of events and food service while maintaining the highest level of food quality and presentation
  • Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen/food service areas
  • Oversee logistical planning and execution of events including communicating equipment needs and kitchen layouts
  • As a leader in our kitchen, you may be asked to lead offsite catering events when business demands, including managing hourly staff according to the food execution timeline.

Purchasing Job Duties

  • Work with Culinary, Operations, and Sales team to obtain lists and information of what needs to be ordered for each event
  • Prepares and reviews orders to verify accurate specifications, pricing and sustainability.
  • Sets up compliant vendors for payment in Accounts Payable processes.
  • Audits invoices and checks for accuracy, receipt of material, and compliance with purchase orders.
  • Tracks the status of requisitions and purchase orders following events through vendor statements ensure all invoices and purchase orders have been captured.
  • Maintains files and receipts, tracks budgets by events, and oversees overall event P&Ls with Tournament Director and Finance Lead.
  • Initiates, approves, and processes last minute purchases, should the need arise.
  • Receives, tracks, and organizes on-site deliveries
  • Organizes and counts inventory storage areas to maintain an accurate month ending inventory account.

Performs other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years in a high volume culinary role with experience in purchasing or procurement.
    • Experience in off-premise catering is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Sharepoint.
  • Licensing or willingness to be licensed to drive a forklift/heavy machinery
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, internal and external email communications, and purchasing procedures
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility of work schedules

Specialized Qualifications:

  • Capable of producing a consistent product in high volume for multiple service times per day
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Proven time management and delegation abilities
  • Knowledge of proper purchasing procedures with a proven track record of responsible buying and tracking.
  • Skilled in managing experienced culinary staff

Work Environment

This role consists of in-office work and traveling throughout the venue via vehicle, golf cart, or similar. Office work consists of long periods of sitting at a desk, interdepartmental meetings, screen and phone usage, and communicating orally and through writing often. This position can work indoors, outdoors, and in temporary structured tents/buildings.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Periods of standing, moving, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as a pallet jack, golf cart, fork lift, and more as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 50 lbs.

Position Salary & Benefits:

  • This is considered a full-time salary position with a starting salary range of $60,000-$65,000.
