Responsibilities

  • Select and negotiate with approved vendors to place purchase orders.
  • Interface between manufacturing/operations, purchasing planning and inventory control.
  • Prepare Production Plan based on forecast and inventory guidelines.
  • Negotiate price, delivery terms and production timelines with suppliers.
  • Identify cost savings and develop new suppliers.
  • Write Job Travelers and Purchase Orders.
  • Maintain MRP dates and ensure timely material orders.
  • Ensure materials are available to meet production demand.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing to resolve material shortages or issues.
  • Prepare manufacturing plan to meet demand requirements.
  • Analyze shortages, review order progress and adjust plans.
  • Maintain positive team relationships and support Hydraflow objectives.
  • Adhere to 5S standards and company policies.

Job description

Overall Purpose:

The Purchasing/Production Planner selects and negotiates with approved vendors to place purchase orders in response to product requirements. The Purchasing/Production Planner interfaces between the manufacturing/operations, purchasing planning and inventory control functions to determine the most efficient Production Plan to ensure inventory for finished goods is maintained at a level specified by management.

  • Prepare the Production Plan based on forecast and promotional requirements, as well as company inventory guidelines
  • Negotiate price, delivery terms and production time lines with current suppliers and vendors
  • Identify cost savings
  • Develop new suppliers as required
  • Write Job Travelers and Purchase Orders
  • Ensure all Material Requirements Planning (MRP) dates are maintained and updated
  • Ensure desired MRP quantities are properly documented and orders for materials are placed in a timely manner
  • Ensure components and services are available in a timely manner as required for production
  • Ensure the required capacities are reserved to meet required production demand
  • Coordinate with appropriate manufacturing personnel to solve problems related to the Production Schedule, such as material shortage status, rejection, scrap, re-work, etc.
  • Prepare manufacturing plan to meet demand requirements
  • Analyze material shortages, review order progress and adjust plans and schedules
  • Maintain excellent team-oriented working relationships among all Hydraflow employees
  • Recommend alternative materials management and planning strategies to management
  • Maintain good manufacturing practice guidelines and behaviors
  • Adhere to 5S Standards
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, policies for attendance and punctuality and standards for safety
