Our client, a leader in the cycling industry, is on the lookout for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their remote team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely acquisition of components necessary

Core Responsibilities

Sourcing & Lead Management

  • Conduct daily cold outreach via Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, eBay, and relevant bike forums.
  • Respond to and manage inbound leads from ads, forms, and social channels.
  • Handle all seller communication, including offer negotiation and follow-up.
  • Coordinate logistics for pickup or delivery with warehouse and driving staff.

Seller & Partner Relationship Management

  • Build and manage long-term relationships with private sellers.
  • Perform regular follow-ups with previous contacts to source additional bikes and parts.
  • Manage the Elevate Partners program by developing trade-in relationships with bike shops and mechanics.

Performance & Market Intelligence

  • Meet monthly acquisition targets and profitability goals.
  • Track all purchasing activity using internal CRM and systems.
  • Analyze sales data to identify buying trends and prioritize high-demand inventory.
  • Monitor market pricing and resale demand across platforms.

Success Metrics

  • Volume of bikes sourced and successfully acquired.
  • Profit margin on purchases.
  • Seller response time and communication quality.
  • Growth in repeat sellers and partner accounts.
  • CRM completeness and accuracy.

Candidate Profile

  • Deep knowledge of road bikes, components, and current resale values.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills (written, verbal, and phone).
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable speaking with sellers via phone and digital platforms.
  • Fast and accurate typist (60+ WPM preferred).
  • Extremely organized and capable of managing high lead volume.
  • Proficient with Google Sheets, CRMs, and Facebook Marketplace.
  • Passionate cyclist with a sharp eye for component value.
  • Highly knowledgeable about the pre-owned road cycling market.
  • Able to accurately assess resale potential and determine competitive offers.
  • Goal-oriented with a relentless drive to hit targets.
  • Capable of identifying and acting on product trends by studying internal sales data.

Preferred:

  • Experience in managing international suppliers and understanding global market conditions.
  • Knowledge of cycling products, components, and market dynamics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
