Job summary

MGM Transformer Company is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to lead our purchasing operations in Vernon, CA. This role focuses on ensuring material availability, supplier performance, cost optimization, and alignment with production schedules in a manufacturing environment.

You will develop the purchasing team, manage supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain. A strong procurement background and leadership capability are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years in purchasing or procurement in manufacturing.
• Experience supervising purchasing professionals and managing supplier performance.
• Strong background in purchasing processes, inventory management, and supplier negotiations.
• Experience purchasing production materials and MRO services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop the purchasing team to drive performance.
• Review, approve POs for accuracy, timeliness, and policy compliance.
• Proactively manage material availability and mitigate supply chain risks to maintain production schedules.
• Partner with Production, Planning, Warehouse, Engineering, Quality, and Finance teams to align purchasing activities with operational needs.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve quality, service, delivery, and cost competitiveness.
• Lead supplier negotiations involving pricing, contracts, lead times, and service expectations.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Support strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier qualification processes.
• Analyze purchasing and inventory data to identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities.
• Participate in SIOP processes and meetings.
• Resolve material shortages, quality issues, engineering changes, and production constraints through cross-functional collaboration.
• Track and report purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance metrics.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, purchasing procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Coach, mentor, and train team members to support professional growth and department effectiveness.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives throughout procurement and supply chain operations.

What You'll Do

As the Purchasing Supervisor, you will oversee daily purchasing activities and help ensure materials are available to support manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include:

Experience

• Minimum of 8 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supervising purchasing professionals and managing supplier performance.

• Experience purchasing both production materials and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) services preferred.
