Job summary

SITE Staffing Inc. invites applications for a hands-on Purchasing Agent in a small, family-owned aircraft components manufacturer. You will manage daily purchasing, source suppliers, and align PO activity with production needs to keep operations efficient.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, including sourcing materials, obtaining quotes, creating purchase orders, and monitoring open orders.
  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, availability, lead times, reliability, and total logistical cost.
  • Partner with Production to develop and manage purchase orders that align with production schedules, inventory requirements, and changing business needs.
  • Monitor inventory and supplier lead times to proactively identify potential material shortages or production delays.
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality to ensure purchased materials and components meet required specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and prints to verify part specifications and requirements before placing orders.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and other purchasing conditions to achieve the best overall value for the company.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers and serve as a primary point of contact for purchasing-related issues.
  • Follow up with suppliers and shipping partners to ensure orders are delivered accurately and on schedule.
  • Identify and resolve purchasing, quality, delivery, and supplier issues quickly and effectively.
  • Work closely with Accounting to review, reconcile, and resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure invoices are processed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, pricing, and order documentation within the company’s ERP system.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve lead times, streamline purchasing processes, and strengthen supplier performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas that improve efficiency, quality, and overall operations.
  • Perform other purchasing and operational duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Position Summary

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing day‑to‑day purchasing activities and ensuring the timely, cost‑effective acquisition of materials, components, and services needed to support production.

Working closely with Production, Quality, Accounting, and external suppliers, this position helps ensure the right materials are available at the right time, at the right cost, and to the required quality standards. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of purchasing decisions and supplier relationships.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys solving problems, negotiating with vendors, improving processes, and working directly with a team to keep manufacturing operations running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous purchasing or supply chain experience within a manufacturing or aviation/aerospace environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience purchasing machined, fabricated, electrical, or other specialized manufacturing components.
