Job summary

Interface, Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead all purchasing activities, develop sourcing strategies, and manage supplier relationships in a manufacturing setting.

The role focuses on cost reduction, inventory optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to meet production and delivery goals. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in purchasing within manufacturing, strong ERP/MRP experience (Infor CSI/SyteLine preferred), and proven leadership capabilities to guide a procurement team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of purchasing/procurement in manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • ERP/MRP systems experience (Infor CSI/SyteLine preferred).
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management experience.

  • Lead all purchasing activities for raw materials, machined components, electronics, outside processing, production supplies, and indirect materials.

Job description

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading all purchasing and sourcing activities for Interface, Inc. This position develops and executes procurement strategies that support production, inventory, quality, and financial objectives. The Purchasing Manager oversees supplier relationships, negotiates contracts and pricing, ensures material availability, manages inventory levels, and drives continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, strong ERP/MRP knowledge, and a proven ability to manage suppliers, reduce costs, improve delivery performance, and support cross-functional business objectives.

Essential Functions
  • Lead all purchasing activities for raw materials, machined components, electronics, outside processing, production supplies, and indirect materials.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that support company growth, inventory goals, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage supplier selection, qualification, performance measurement, and ongoing supplier relationships.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, payment terms, and service agreements to achieve cost savings and maximize value.
  • Collaborate with Production, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Sales teams to ensure timely material availability and support customer delivery requirements.
  • Analyze inventory levels, forecast demand, and maintain appropriate stock levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics including quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.
  • Resolve supply chain disruptions and proactively identify alternative sourcing solutions when necessary.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing transactions, supplier records, inventory planning, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction initiatives throughout the supply chain.
  • Support new product introductions by sourcing components and establishing supplier capabilities.
  • Prepare and present purchasing metrics, inventory reports, and supplier performance data to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop purchasing personnel as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May supervise Buyers, Purchasing Coordinators, Inventory Control personnel, or other supply chain team members.
  • Provides coaching, training, performance management, and development support.
Work/Physical Environment

This position operates primarily in an office environment with frequent interaction in manufacturing and warehouse areas. The employee may occasionally visit suppliers and customer locations as business needs require. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or materials management experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Infor CSI/SyteLine preferred).
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPIM, CPSM, CPM, or related supply chain certification.
  • Experience purchasing machined components, electronics, sensors, industrial products, or engineered assemblies.
  • Experience with international sourcing and supplier development.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
