Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, engineering, or business.
• 5+ years purchasing or procurement in die casting, metal fabrication, or manufacturing.
• Understanding of zinc and aluminum pricing and trading.
• Ability to negotiate contracts while preserving relationships.
• Experience with ERP purchasing or material modules and data integrity.
• Ability to read material specs and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Build and run purchasing strategies for zinc, aluminum, and other materials.
• Find, qualify, and manage suppliers for raw metal, tooling, packaging, and MRO.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms; monitor market moves.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering to ensure specs match the process.
• Hold suppliers accountable for on-time delivery and quality.
• Identify and mitigate supply risk such as single-source exposure and long lead times.
• Maintain ERP purchasing data: pricing, lead times, reorder points.
• Drive cost-outs without sacrificing quality or delivery.
• Lead RFQs, supplier onboarding, and sourcing for new programs and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with company policy, customer requirements, and certifications.

Fort Recovery Industries is looking for a Purchasing Manager who can source raw metal, tooling, packaging, and MRO with the same discipline we put into every casting — right cost, right quality, right time. This is not a catalog‑order job. You will watch commodity markets, negotiate real contracts, qualify suppliers, and sit at the table with production, quality, and engineering so the next program launches without a material surprise.

What You’ll Do

• Build and run purchasing strategies for zinc, aluminum, and other raw materials — balancing cost, quality, and supply risk.
• Find, qualify, and manage suppliers for raw metal, tooling, packaging, and MRO.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms. Track zinc and aluminum market moves so we are never guessing.
• Work side by side with production, quality, and engineering so specs actually match the process.
• Hold suppliers accountable: on‑time delivery, quality, and corrective action.
• Spot and fix supply risk — single‑source exposure, shortages, long lead times.
• Keep ERP purchasing data clean: pricing, lead times, reorder points.
• Drive cost‑outs that do not blow‑up quality or delivery.
• Lead RFQs, new supplier onboarding, and sourcing for new programs and capital projects.
• Stay compliant — company policy, customer requirements, conflict minerals, material certifications.

Who Thrives Here

• Bachelor’s in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or equivalent firsthand experience.
• 5+ years purchasing or procurement — die casting, metal fabrication, or other manufacturing is a strong plus.
• You understand (or can quickly learn) how zinc and aluminum are priced and traded.
• You can negotiate a contract and still keep the relationship.
• You have used an ERP purchasing or materials module and actually trust the data you put in it.
• You can read a material spec and a drawing, not just a PO line.
• You like scorecards, forecasts, and cost files more than you admit.
• You talk easily with the floor, quality, engineering, and finance.
• APICS or CPSM is a plus. Curiosity about commodities is required.
