East Bay Tire Co. in California is seeking a Purchasing Manager to safeguard service levels by turning purchasing strategy into reliable inventory flow, cost control, and margin discipline.
You will manage replenishment, forecasts, vendor relationships, and cross-functional collaboration with sales, operations, and warehouse. The role requires a Bachelor's in business or related field and 5+ years in purchasing or supply chain, with strong Excel and negotiation skills.
The East Bay Tire team is no ordinary group of people. Sure, it’s easy to claim they have the industry know-how to get the job done, but that would be a clear understatement. The East Bay Tire team is comprised of competitive and fearless leaders who survive and grow through hardship and challenge. They create and innovate to meet the demands of an ever-evolving economic climate. And when the stakes are high and put to the test, this team grabs the bull by the horns and gets the job done. Some might say it’s tenacity that feeds their passion, but around the warehouse, we call it TRUE GRIT.
As Purchasing Manager, you protect East Bay Tire’s promise to customers by keeping the right tire inventory flowing-on time, at the right cost, and with margin discipline. This role exists to turn purchasing strategy into dependable service across passenger/light truck, commercial truck, agricultural, industrial, OTR, trailer, specialty, and related categories.
You start Monday by scanning inventory positions and inbound ETAs, then pressure-test the week’s assumptions against what sales is seeing in the field. Midday, you’re on calls with key suppliers to confirm allocations, resolve backorders, and lock in program details. Afternoons are for tightening the forecast in Excel, reviewing open POs, and sharing clear updates with operations and the warehouse so receiving and staging stay smooth. Across the week, you spot patterns-slow movers, sudden spikes, freight or cost shifts-and translate them into practical adjustments that keep service levels strong without tying up cash.
