Job summary

Amherst StudioBuilt is seeking a Procurement Supervisor to lead the sourcing of production materials, optimize supplier relationships, and drive cost reductions while maintaining quality and on-time deliveries.

You will coordinate with corporate procurement, supervise specialists, and ensure accurate records and compliance across the supply chain in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in supply chain, finance, or construction is required.
  • Two or more years of purchasing or costing experience.
  • Excellent leadership, proactive mindset, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong relationship-building with Finance, Engineering, Quality, Production, Warehouse, and Compliance.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to plan, prioritize, and meet goals.

Responsibilities

  • Procure materials at the lowest cost while maintaining quality and timely delivery to production schedules.
  • Coordinate with corporate procurement and suppliers to optimize cost, quality, and reliability.
  • Supervise purchasing specialists who handle day-to-day material purchases.
  • Maintain procurement records including costs, delivery, quality, and inventories.
  • Negotiate contracts within budget and scope of authority; review bid proposals.
  • Ensure production requirements are met daily and assist with plant inventory.
  • Lead staff training and continuous improvement initiatives in procurement.

Job description

Founded by Amherst, the full‑service real estate solutions platform, Amherst StudioBuilt™ homes is an innovative approach to home development that utilizes offsite construction to create new housing supply at scale without sacrificing quality. StudioBuilt homes are constructed at Amherst's housing studio in Cuero, Texas as well as partner studios across the Southeast and then installed on site.

Summary

The Procurement Supervisor and team are responsible for implementing and maintaining supply chain systems and procedures to align with industry and StudioBuilt benchmarks, ensuring long‑term results. This position reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations.

Responsibilities
  • The procurement and purchasing team members are critical to ensuring production materials are sourced at the lowest cost while maintaining quality standards and are consistently delivered on time to meet production schedules.
  • At the plant level, the purchasing supervisor coordinates with corporate procurement and identifies and maintains local and regional suppliers of materials to optimize cost, quality, and reliability of the supply chain.
  • Supervises purchasing specialists who coordinate day‑to‑day material and supply purchases.
  • Accounts for execution and continuous improvement of a business process, including mapping, documenting, reengineering, quality assurance, staffing, metrics, controls, and risk identification to achieve service level expectations.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
  • Leads and trains staff.
  • Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
  • Determines procurement method such as direct purchase or bid with factory leadership.
  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Maintains procurement records, including costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality assurance personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Verifies specifications of purchase requests.
  • Counts inventory items to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity.
  • Prepares purchase orders and sends them to suppliers and the originating department.
  • Computes total cost of items purchased.
  • Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
  • Expedites delivery of goods to users.
  • Meets production requirements on a daily basis while controlling inventory with various lead times.
  • Assists heavily with periodic plant inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BS/BA in supply chain, finance, or construction.
  • Two or more years of work experience in purchasing and/or costing.
  • Excellent leadership, pro‑activeness, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship‑building capabilities with Finance, Engineering, Quality, Production, Warehouse, and Compliance.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to develop strategies, direction, goals, objectives, and key measurement systems to ensure business goals are met.
  • Ability to adjust to a changing environment.
  • Detail‑oriented personality with strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Flexible work schedule; overtime is often necessary.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a positive team player.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and satisfaction.

Physical Requirements

This job requires frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing stairs in and around the manufacturing facility, single‑family homes, and traveling on uneven and unpaved surfaces. The employee must be able to operate an automobile, type on a keyboard, and move, lift, or carry equipment over 50 pounds.
