Job summary

Assurance Manufacturing in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to optimize supplier relations and procurement processes in our manufacturing facility.

You'll collaborate with departments, negotiate with vendors, manage orders, monitor inventory, and uphold safety and quality standards while contributing to cost-effective sourcing and supplier performance metrics. This role also requires strong leadership and analytical skills for on-time delivery and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum three years of purchasing or related experience.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supplier management.

Responsibilities

Purchasing Manager Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
• Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
• Prepares and presents market conditions and merchandise cost reports.
• Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
• Maintains and/or implements purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
• Acts as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers.
• Purchases raw materials and hardware in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Purchases shipping, shop and office supplies in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Assists estimating and customer service by obtaining quotes, sources and/or other information on materials and hardware.
• Clerical receipt of packing slips/purchase orders, resolving discrepancies between packing slips and invoices.
• Monitors quality and delivery status of suppliers.
• Monitors inventory status of in-house stock material relative to current needs.
• Sets up vendors sending all information needed to allow us to be on terms versus credit card status.
• Maintains approved supplier list.
• Issues Supplier Corrective Action Requests as necessary.
• Communicates relevant or potential issues with the President and Management team.
• Adheres to all safety rules and guidelines.
• Attends and utilizes all company-provided training to continually improve supervisor/manager skills and abilities and to ensure required consistency in how we are supervising/managing employees, processes, and procedures company-wide.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
