Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Purchasing Manager for a growing structural steel fabrication business in Atlanta. You will own the procurement function, manage day-to-day purchasing, source steel and subcontracted services, and collaborate with production teams to ensure material availability.

Required are 4+ years in procurement/purchasing within structural steel or steel fabrication. Benefits include medical, dental, 401K with match, PTO and a bonus program.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day procurement and purchasing activities across the business.
• Source and negotiate the purchase of steel, fabrication materials, components, consumables and subcontracted services.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships and identify new sources.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times and supply agreements to optimize value.
• Evaluate quotations to ensure quality, cost and delivery specifications.
• Collaborate with production and project teams to ensure material availability.
• Monitor supplier performance and address delivery, quality and reliability issues.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve procurement efficiency.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
• Forecast material requirements and manage stock levels.
• Ensure procurement supports project deadlines and production schedules.
• Review supply chain to identify efficiencies and cost savings.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Procurement Manager to join a well-established and growing structural steel fabrication business. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with a strong background in manufacturing, engineering, construction, or structural steel to take ownership of the procurement function and play a key role in supporting the company's continued growth.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day procurement and purchasing activities across the business.
• Source and negotiate the purchase of steel, fabrication materials, components, consumables and subcontracted services.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while identifying new and alternative sources.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times and supply agreements to achieve best commercial value.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations, ensuring purchases meet required quality, cost and delivery specifications.
• Work closely with production and project teams to ensure materials are available when required.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, quality and reliability.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve procurement efficiency.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure procurement activity is appropriately documented.
• Manage supplier issues, shortages, delays and quality concerns through to resolution.
• Assist with forecasting material requirements and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
• Ensure procurement activities support project deadlines and production schedules.
• Continually review the supply chain to identify efficiencies, cost savings and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure purchasing activity complies with company procedures and commercial requirements.
