Job Title: Purchasing & Logistics Specialist

Location: Chandler, AZ

Pay Rate: $55k-$70k, DOE

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7 AM-4 PM

Overview

A well-established provider of specialized products and services supporting highly regulated industries is seeking a Purchasing & Logistics Specialist to manage international logistics, customs compliance, intercompany material transfers, and purchasing operations.

This role is ideal for a supply chain professional with hands‑on experience coordinating cross-border shipments, customs requirements, import/export compliance, and international transportation activities while supporting procurement and supplier management functions. The successful candidate will serve as a critical link between suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, internal stakeholders, and global business partners to ensure materials move efficiently, compliantly, and on time throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate domestic and international shipments from supplier pickup through final delivery, ensuring visibility, accuracy, and compliance throughout the transportation process.
• Manage import/export activities, including customs documentation, duties, tariffs, broker coordination, and adherence to U.S. and international trade regulations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and logistics providers to ensure smooth cross-border movement of goods.
• Monitor international shipments and proactively resolve customs holds, clearance delays, transportation disruptions, and documentation discrepancies.
• Coordinate intercompany transfers between domestic and international locations, ensuring proper purchasing, inventory, shipping, and compliance documentation is completed accurately.
• Process, manage, and expedite purchase orders while maintaining alignment with production schedules, inventory requirements, and customer commitments.
• Monitor open and overdue purchase orders and work directly with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and fulfillment.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to support efficient supply chain operations.
• Maintain accurate shipping, customs, and purchasing records within ERP systems and transportation platforms.
• Support inventory management initiatives, including stock monitoring, shortage prevention, excess inventory reduction, and returns processing.
• Identify opportunities to improve international logistics efficiency, customs processes, transportation costs, and overall supply chain performance.
• Participate in supply chain optimization projects and continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing, logistics, trade compliance, and inventory management.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in purchasing, logistics, import/export, supply chain, or international trade.
• Hands‑on experience coordinating international shipments and working directly with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation providers.
• Working knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations, customs clearance procedures, duties, tariffs, and international shipping documentation.
• Experience supporting cross-border logistics and intercompany material transfers.
• Understanding of Incoterms, international transportation processes, and trade compliance requirements.
• Experience processing and managing purchase orders, supplier communications, and delivery schedules.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Proven ability to build relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, carriers, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
