Job summary

SURGE Staffing is seeking a focused Purchasing Intern to join our Columbus, OH team. This part-time, paid internship offers hands-on exposure to purchasing, supplier communication, and inventory planning within a food manufacturing environment.

You will work with experienced professionals to support daily purchasing tasks, track orders, and maintain records while balancing class schedules. Prior internship experience is not required, just organization and eagerness to learn.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily purchasing activities and administrative tasks.
• Help create, track, and follow up on purchase orders.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, product availability, lead times, and deliveries.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and material documentation.
• Assist with reviewing inventory levels and identifying upcoming purchasing needs.
• Monitor open orders and help resolve order discrepancies or delivery delays.
• Enter purchasing data and assist with reports and document organization.
• Gather supplier pricing, quotes, and product information.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Research and Development, and other departments.
• Support special projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
