SURGE Staffing in Columbus, OH is seeking a Purchasing Intern for a paid, part-time role. You’ll assist with daily purchasing tasks, track orders, and coordinate with suppliers on status and lead times. The position runs on-site for about 20 hours per week, with an immediate start through May 2027.

No prior internship is required; you’ll gain hands-on experience in purchasing and supply chain operations within a food manufacturing environment while balancing your class schedule.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college/university program related to supply chain or business.
• Strong organizational and communication skills required.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Outlook/Teams).

Responsibilities

• Assist daily purchasing activities and administrative tasks.
• Create, track, and follow up on purchase orders.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding status, lead times, and deliveries.
• Maintain purchasing records and supplier information.
• Assist with inventory planning and identifying upcoming needs.
• Monitor open orders and resolve discrepancies or delays.
• Enter purchasing data and assist with reports and organization.
• Gather supplier pricing, quotes, and product information.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, R&D, and other departments.
• Support special projects and process improvements.
