Job summary

FORVIA seeks a Purchasing Intern at our Columbus, IN location to support the Tooling, Equipment and Prototype purchasing team. You will assist with data gathering, reporting, and supplier communications while gaining hands-on experience in a global automotive supply chain.

As a part-time, year-round student, you will work 20–25 hours weekly, contribute to cost reduction efforts, and participate in team meetings to learn how procurement drives efficiency and value across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Run monthly reports and gather data for audits.

• Identify gaps between supplier targets and performance.
• Propose continuous improvement ideas for cost reductions.

FORVIA is looking for a year-round Purchasing Intern for its location in Columbus, IN.

Your Mission, Roles And Responsibilities

The Purchasing Intern is responsible for aiding the Tooling, Equipment and Prototype purchasing department in completion of specific assigned tasks and projects. Through successful completion of these tasks and projects the Intern will obtain experience and knowledge within their field of educational pursuit.

Responsibilities

• Running numerous monthly reports
• Daily tariff classifications
• Gathering data for audits
• Supporting general purchasing commercial administrative activities
• Additional tasks as assigned by the team, leadership and company
• Processing purchasing orders for T&E and Prototype team
• General admininistrative support function for T&E and Prototype team
• Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction
• Create and manage savings and expense ideas
• Assist current Buyer with supplier relationship management and communication
• Gather data pertaining to quantity of goods ordered from SAP and other various data gathering tasks
• Attend and participate in team meetings
• Identify gaps between supplier targets and supplier performance
• Prepare spend / saving reports and present to Buyer and Manager
• Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction
• Capitalizes on knowledge and shares best practices / lessons learned across organization and within the site
• Additional tasks as assigned by the team, leadership and company

Education / Experience

• Full-time student
• Must be a currently enrolled student at an accredited university
• Pursuing a degree in one of the following: Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or any other additional programs related to this field.
• Minimum 2.8 GPA
