Job summary

TAS Energy Inc., a Houston, TX based engineered modular solutions provider, is seeking a Purchasing Expeditor to accelerate procurement of equipment, parts and services within an ERP/MRP environment.

Responsibilities include reconciling BOMs to planned orders, maintaining supplier communication, expediting POs, monitoring delivery commitments and resolving receiving discrepancies to keep production on schedule.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in purchasing/expediting in a custom engineered manufacturing environment with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma acceptable with industry experience.
  • APICS CPIM certification is preferred.

  • Follow up purchases to expedite orders and adjust amounts, materials, or specifications as needed.
  • Develop and monitor supplier recovery plans for quality issues or delays.
  • Communicate order risks and schedule changes to TAS stakeholders.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Purchasing Expeditor role is responsible for expediting equipment, commodities, parts, and services from MRP and MRO Requisitions within a growing company that provides engineered modular solutions.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reconcile Bill of Materials (BOM)s to planned orders and issued Purchase Orders (PO) and work with Configuration Management and Purchasing to resolve discrepancies
  • Assure an uninterrupted flow of materials, supplies and services required to operate the organization.
  • Maintain frequent communication with suppliers regarding manufacturing progress, shipment status, and delivery commitments from order placement to receipt to ensure quality and schedule are met
  • Review and maintain vendor PO promise dates and receipt of materials in the ERP system.
  • Lead supplier meetings as assigned to monitor PO promise dates, address delivery risks and ensure timely receipt of materials.

  • Follow up purchases as necessary through correspondence or telephone to expedite order, change amounts, material, specifications, etc.
  • Develop and monitor supplier recovery plans as necessary for quality issues or schedule delays
  • Communicate order risks and schedule changes to appropriate TAS stakeholders
  • Advise senior management of non-standard contractual issues which can create legal and business risk to TAS
  • Maintain good relations with supplier personnel; maintain positive supplier relations while holding supplier accountable to delivery commitments.
  • Resolve receiving discrepancies by comparing purchase order to delivery documentation.
  • Proactively partner with Warehouse and key stakeholders to identify recurring receiving issues, drive corrective actions and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by TAS.
JOB SKILLS
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Highly organized self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Ability to follow standard work processes.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of materials management, purchasing methods, and expediting procedures.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department.
  • Foundation level knowledge of standard ERP/ MRP principles and practices.
  • Infor/LN experience/purchasing module knowledge a plus.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience, intermediate excels skills required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

2-5 years of experience in purchasing/expediting in a custom engineered manufacturing organization to order/make to order ERP/MRP driven manufacturing environment. Understanding of general manufacturing practices, policies and processes.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

APICS CPIM certification.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma acceptable with appropriate industry experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
