Job summary

Drees Homes in Houston seeks a Purchasing Coordinator to support Purchasing/Estimating, owning project issues from PO to cost analysis. You will assist Builders and Estimators, review bids, and liaise with trade partners to obtain pricing for new plans and options.

The role requires strong Excel, JD Edwards experience, and permitting exposure. A Bachelor's degree is preferred, with a focus on accuracy, organization, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

High School Diploma is required; Bachelor's Degree or equivalent homebuilding experience is preferred.
Experience working in a construction related capacity is a real plus.
Experience conducting bid analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

Focus on assigned projects including issues with purchase orders and FPOs.
Assist Builders/Estimators in ensuring PO accuracy.
Research and confirm requests are valid; avoid duplicity.
Analyze information, identifying discrepancies and inconsistencies.
Attend weekly starts meetings and FPO meetings and offer assistance as needed.
Work with Cost Analysis and Operations Manager on cost details/issues.
Aid in obtaining pricing from trade partners for new plans and options.
Permitting of homes and HOA approvals.
Ensure all vendor packets are updated and accurate; follow up with Trade partners.

Responsibilities/Qualifications

Drees Homes, one of the largest privately-owned homebuilders in the nation, is looking for a Purchasing Coordinator in the Houston Division. The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for assisting in all areas of Purchasing/Estimating. This position takes ownership of assigned projects and provides background, analysis, and summary of issues at hand and offer possible solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Focus on assigned projects including issues with purchase orders and FPO's.
Assist Builders/Estimators in making sure PO's are accurate.

Work directly with Cost Analysis and Operations Manager on cost details/issues.
Aid in obtaining pricing from trade partners for new plans and options.
Permitting of homes and HOA approvals.
Ensure all vendor packets are updates and accurate. Follow up with Trade partners as necessary.

Knowledge and Skills

Strong computer skills including Excel Spreadsheets
Experience with JD Edwards and On Screen Take Off is a plus
Analytical, detail-minded, team oriented and a good communicator (internal and external customers)
Ability to read bid sets, architectural plans as well as construct cost estimates preferred
A visual learner with strong organizational skills and autonomous mindset
Permitting experience and experience working with a Builder
Self-motivated to be able to multi-task and meet deadlines
A problem solver who can take ownership of projects

Requirements
