Overview
A tier-one supplier to the automotive industry, specializing in the design and production of lighting equipment, accessories, and electronic components, is seeking an experienced Buyer for its Ohio facility. This role supports supplier development, sourcing, and cost management for new model trials and mass production programs, working closely with engineering, quality, and sales teams.
What you'll do
- Research, evaluate, and purchase automotive components for each new model trial event
- Correlate and select suppliers to ensure stable quality, competitive cost, and on-time delivery
- Maintain communications with suppliers regarding design changes for trial and mass production products
- Issue supplier documents including contracts, agreements, forecasts, Request for Quotation (RFQ), and Maker Layout Letters
- Develop, gain approval for, and execute purchasing strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers
- Achieve new model and mass production cost targets through effective supplier selection and negotiation
- Maintain effective supplier relationship management
- Maintain supplier documents through Q-Pulse
- Communicate with suppliers regarding RFQs, event orders, pricing, and terms
- Issue expense purchase orders
- Develop products with suppliers through the new model event process
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of one year of experience in Purchasing, Sales, Quality Control, or Engineering
- Project management experience
- Time management skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate based on logic
- Demonstrated ability to manage cost
- Demonstrated ability to manage customer/supplier relationships
- Demonstrated ability to develop and present a clear and concise proposal
- Basic math skills
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office applications), email, etc.
- Demonstrated strong cost analysis skills
- Solid organization skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, building consensus

- Lifting (max 40lbs) for approximately 0.5 hours per day
- Ability to work in a general office environment (7.5 hours/day) and manufacturing environment (0.5 hour/day)
- Domestic and international travel may be required on occasion
- Required to work overtime (unplanned and unscheduled) to meet deadlines and requirements
