This role is responsible for researching product requirements, sourcing vendors, and working with vendors to obtain high-quality products at competitive prices through the bid process.
Responsibilities
Where You'll Make an Impact:
- Analyze and interpret departmental needs and results.
- Negotiate with vendors to find quality products at competitive prices and ensure adequate delivery times.
- Coordinate the purchase order and bid solicitation processes.
- Maintain accurate inventory of the warehouse.
- Meet with departmental directors and managers as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills to Help You Succeed:
- General buying experience is preferred.
- Experience using Stratton Warren System is preferred.
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks and meet deadlines in an irregular work schedule.
- Ability to perform duties in an interruptive environment.
- Ability to work under frequent time pressures.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Zero (0) to three (3) years of experience in purchasing-related positions.
- A two (2) year degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA storage regulations, hazard chemical labeling, and other applicable OSHA requirements.
- Knowledge of gaming and alcohol beverage control laws and regulations.
- Ability to work in an environment with alcohol and smoking exposure.
- Ability to secure and maintain licensure as required by the Virginia Gaming Control Board or other regulatory entities.
