• Background/experience with heavy steel, welding and machining is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Communicate component requirements to suppliers, ensuring conformance to specifications and quality program.
• Collaborate with internal/external groups to meet timelines, cost structures, contractual obligations and manufacturing/engineering needs.
• Source and negotiate the most favorable overall value and lead-time without compromising quality.
• Review quotes to ensure margins align with project and sales estimates.
• Maintain ERP data for part numbers, suppliers, and purchasing agents.
• Review open purchase requisitions daily and source materials with required capabilities and quality.
• Obtain quotes for Engineering, Estimating and Service as needed.
• Act on system-generated material exceptions and communicate results.
• Write and document ERP work instructions and workflows for continuous improvement.
• Meet annual goals set by the Purchasing Manager.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Purchasing Agents (PA) work and negotiate with suppliers to purchase goods and services for the company. The PA is assigned specific commodities they are responsible for.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for communicating all component requirements to the potential supply sources, assuring strict conformance to Konecranes product specifications and quality program.
• Working with internal and external functional groups is required to ensure timelines, cost structure, contractual obligations and all manufacturing/engineering needs are realized.
• Responsible for sourcing and negotiating the most favorable overall “value” and lead-time without compromising quality or customer requirements.
• Responsible for a thorough review and comparison of all major quoting activity to project and sales estimates to ensure margins and impacts are realized and communicated when and to whom necessary.
• Perform continuous system maintenance at the part number, supplier, and PA levels to assure system integrity is intact and information is correct for all viewers.
• Responsible for daily review of open purchase requisitions and sourcing material to sources with the required capabilities, capacity and quality program required for a demanding market.
• Obtain quotes for other functional groups such as Engineering, Estimating and Service as needed.
• Act on system generated material exceptions, expediting, delaying, or cancelling on-order material as necessary, and communicating results to the required group or individual.
• Write and document work instructions for our ERP system as well as general workflow to allow continuous improvement.
• Meet all annual goals and objectives assigned by the Purchasing Manager, with constant communication throughout the calendar year. Goals and Objectives can and will be adjusted where and when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Associates or higher degree preferred but not required.
• 5+ years’ experience working within a procurement role required, working with commodity based buying and one-off quantities.
• Background/experience with heavy steel, welding and machining is a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• 20% travel is required.
