Qualifications

As the Nuclear Service Manager, you will provide leadership and direct service field activities including quoting/estimating, service contract execution, labor and resource planning, safety, customer satisfaction, field operative productivity, material requisition/preparation, vehicle and equipment management.

POSITION SUMMARY

This role supports the field service employees in all aspects of their remote work as listed in the responsibilities below. Our service team consists of office personnel and remote field service employees. The Nuclear Service Manager oversees these employees and ensures execution of successful services for our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for on-time and on-budget execution of service of nuclear material handling equipment at customer locations globally working with a cross-functional project team. Project types include oversight for repairs, modernization, inspections, assessments, rail surveys/repairs and installation activities on electric overhead traveling cranes at nuclear power plants, government facilities and other demanding customer sites both in the USA and globally.
  • Provide managerial support to the office staff and field service workforce. Address performance issues, documenting as required. Review serious employment matters with supervisor prior to taking action. Conduct annual reviews with direct report employees.
  • Develop technical skills throughout the organization as it pertains to crane controls; attain/maintain industry leadership.
  • Develop skills and organizational culture; develop customer centered, knowledgeable and responsive organization. Select, develop, motivate and manage staff accordingly.
  • Meet and exceed company goals and budgets as it relates to orders/sales, margins, profitability, quality, punctuality, productivity, expenses and customer service.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct detailed walkdowns of equipment and site.
  • Attend customer meetings to assist sales staff.
  • Prepare service quotations for work at nuclear facilities utilizing best practices and tools to optimize schedule. Engage subcontractors and coordinate sub-contracted services as necessary.
  • Prior to services, print and prepare document packages for technician use.
  • Prior to services, prepare tools as necessary and arrange logistics to site (techs do not carry tools, tools are shipped from the office or provided by the customer site).
  • Have the ability to write safety related documents and work plans.
  • Ability to research and procure materials and tools local to the work.
  • Review and approve invoices following completion of service according to contract.
  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures, including those established by the customer and have a strong commitment to safety.
  • Plan and participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Assist in the field and support manufacturing efforts when necessary.
  • Conduit kick-off meetings for engineering when engineering services are provided on a service order.
  • Continually appraise company products, services, policies and procedures relative to design, pricing, marketability, etc. Recommend changes as required. Recommend pricing and product strategy.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in operations as it relates to efficiency, quality, punctuality and costs.
  • Actively and directly participate in resolving issues with internal/external customers.
  • Maintain the current customer base. Support service quotations for repairs and inspections, scope and estimate projects in a timely manner, following established guidelines.
  • Direct and assist Service Staff employees with the planning and scheduling of service work for the existing service workforce, as needed. Ensure all open orders are scheduled or tentatively planned on the calendar. Ensure effective use of operative labor, maximizing direct labor in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Resolve customer complaints, within established guidelines, to the satisfaction of the customer and in the best interest of the company. Any unresolved issues should be quickly elevated to the next level of management for prompt resolution.
  • Oversee routine changes to the open orders, as needed. Ensure open orders report reflects the current status of any active service work.
  • Ensure time entry and expense reports are complete, accurate and approved according to company guidelines and that hours are allocated to the appropriate job and are properly classified.
  • Ensure quality control program is administered in accordance with company policy.
  • Oversee and input data to subcontractor management systems (ISN, Avetta, etc).
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Projects, etc.)
  • Must be able to work varied overtime and be able to travel and work away from home for extended periods of time.
  • Must be team oriented, solutions driven, customer focused and a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics and BOMs. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude are a plus.
  • Read, understand and apply the contents of all OSHA, ASME, CMAA and other codes or regulations pertaining to our industry. Refresh and update knowledge periodically.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related field or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience is a plus. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience involving overhead cranes, installations, inspections, electrical and mechanical repairs.
  • Previous nuclear industry background is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have and maintain a good driving record, including a valid Real ID driver's license.
  • Must be willing and able to work at elevations.
  • Must be able to pass background checks that are required to gain access to nuclear power plants and secure government facilities (A candidate's legal, financial, physiological and psychological background are considered in these background checks).
