Job description

2 Openings: Southeast & Central West Regions

Position: AC, I & AC, II

These positions will focus on the administration and execution of transmission and distribution substation maintenance activities, including preventative, corrective, and emergency work within designated geographic regions. Reporting to a senior-level Area Coordinator, the roles are designed for individuals beginning to understand substation operations and maintenance processes.

  1. AC, I: Suitable for those with little to no experience in substation operation. Responsibilities include understanding outage planning, equipment replacement, mobile substation installations, and developing working relationships with Members and Member Systems. Assists in coordinating and scheduling contract maintenance personnel and begins to learn acceptance testing procedures. Gains foundational troubleshooting skills for transformers, circuit breakers, and motorized switches.
  2. AC, II: Requires proficiency in all aspects of transmission and distribution substations. Capable of coordinating contract maintenance, performing acceptance testing, and troubleshooting and repairing equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches. Demonstrates leadership qualities and effective communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology

Experience:

  • AC, I: Four (4) years in Substation Maintenance, Construction Inspection, Testing, or Operations, or six (6) years of equivalent experience with increasing responsibilities.
  • AC, II: Six (6) years in Substation Maintenance, Construction Inspection, Testing, or Operations, or eight (8) years of equivalent experience with increasing responsibilities.
Specialized Skills

AC, I: Ability to climb, lift heavy objects, extensive travel, basic computer skills.

AC, II: All AC, I skills plus strong communication, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics, experience with Doble M4000 Power Factor Test set, Vanguard Breaker Analyzer, and leadership capabilities. Must pass NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
