Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Purchasing Agent and Inventory Controller in New York to procure merchandise for resale and manage inventory. You will negotiate favorable terms with vendors and analyze on-hand stock to align with projected sales.

The role requires strong communication skills, experience in purchasing, and the ability to work with Excel and Microsoft Office to analyze data and maintain supplier relationships. Training on safety and compliance will be provided.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of purchasing and inventory control experience, wholesale distribution experience preferred.
• Knowledge of products sold in the Profit Center preferred.

• Able to analyze sales and procurement data and understand market trends.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for procuring merchandise for resale and for inventory management.
• Enthusiastically negotiate with vendors to obtain the best pricing, delivery, and terms of purchase.
• Analyze product on hand and projected product sales.
• Create, process, and expedite vendor Purchase Orders to maintain desired product mix and optimal shelf quantities.
• Monitor vendor shipments and receipt of merchandise to ensure alignment with Profit Center guidelines.
• Meet or exceed Profit Center targets for fill rates, in stock levels, and inventory turns.
• Perform cycle counts, research and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Maintain product records, pricing, and buy matrices; coordinate with Product File Administrator.
• Negotiate and maintain profitable partnerships with suppliers and vendors.
• Monitor customer returns and vendor merchandise returns to ensure timely processing and credits.
• Report changes in pricing levels and conditions impacting procurement position.
• Complete required safety and compliance training.

About the Role:

You will:

• Be responsible for procuring merchandise for resale, and for inventory management.

• Enthusiastically negotiate with vendors to obtain the best pricing, delivery, and terms of purchase ensuring optimal order fill rates and customer satisfaction.

• Analyze product on hand and projected product sales.

• Create, process, and expedite vendor Purchase Orders to maintain desired product mix, optimum shelf quantities, and satisfy projected product sales.

• Monitor vendor shipments and receipt of merchandise to ensure that they are within acceptable parameters established by the Profit Center Manager.

• Meet or exceed the Profit Center targets for fill rates/service levels, in stock rates, annual inventory turns, and slow-moving/devalued/overstock inventory levels.

• Perform cycle counts, research, and resolve all inventory discrepancies.

• Perform required file maintenance to products, buy lines, price and buy matrices; communicate with Product File Administrator as necessary.

• Negotiate and maintain profitable partnerships with suppliers and vendors.

• Monitor customer returned goods and vendor merchandise returns to ensure timely processing and credit accuracy.

• Maintain market intelligence and report changes in pricing levels and potential problem areas or conditions that could adversely affect the Company's procurement position.

• Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.

• Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

About You:

• 1+ years of purchasing and inventory control experience, wholesale distribution experience preferred

• Knowledge of products sold in the Profit Center preferred
