Job Description

Purchasing Agent
Automation Personnel Services is looking for a Purchasing Agent for a company based in Westwego, LA. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for supply chain management, sourcing, and procuring essential materials while ensuring cost efficiency, top quality, and timely delivery. You will collaborate with teams including operations, engineering, quality assurance, and logistics to support production needs and uphold company standards.

Pay Rate
$50,000 Yearly Salary

Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans aligned with production requirements and budget goals.
• Manage RFQs, RFPs, and POs using ERP/purchasing systems.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers, maintaining relationships with existing partners.
• Negotiate supplier agreements, terms, and pricing.
• Track PO progress and resolve delivery, quality, or cost issues.
• Maintain vendor performance metrics and conduct reviews.
• Monitor market conditions for price and supply fluctuations.
• Generate reports for management review.
• Ensure compliance with policies, standards, and ethics.
• Coordinate with logistics for efficient receipt and inventory control.
• Assist with supply chain disruptions and expedite critical orders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel occasionally (<10%).
