Job summary

The Authentic Age is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent for our Tampa residential homebuilding projects. This role focuses on bidding, negotiating, and awarding contracts with trade partners and suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency and quality throughout each homebuild.

Ideal candidates have direct purchasing experience in production or semi-custom homebuilding, a solid grasp of construction processes, and strong Excel/ERP capabilities.

Qualifications

• 1 year of purchasing experience with a residential homebuilder.
• Experience purchasing for production, semi-custom, or tract homebuilding projects.
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods, building materials, and subcontractor scopes.
• Experience reviewing residential plans and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and purchasing software or ERP systems.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple communities and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Solicit competitive bids from subcontractors and suppliers for new residential communities.
• Analyze pricing proposals to ensure competitiveness, completeness, and scope accuracy.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and vendor agreements to maximize value while maintaining quality standards.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders for labor, materials, and services.
• Review architectural plans, specifications, and construction documents to ensure complete bid packages.
• Maintain and update purchasing budgets, cost databases, and vendor pricing.
• Work closely with Construction, Land Development, Estimating, and Sales teams to ensure accurate product selection and cost management.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Monitor material costs and market trends to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Resolve pricing discrepancies, vendor issues, and purchase order revisions as needed.
• Ensure purchasing practices align with company policies and project schedules.

Purchasing Agent – Residential Homebuilding

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for bidding, negotiating, and awarding contracts for residential construction while maintaining strong relationships with trade partners and suppliers. The ideal candidate has direct purchasing experience with a production or semi-custom homebuilder and understands residential construction processes, estimating, and cost control.

This position requires prior homebuilding purchasing experience. Candidates without residential homebuilding experience will not be considered.
