Job description

Position Overview

The Purchasing Agent will report to the Supply Chain Manager in our Mooresville, NC facility. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for quoting and purchase order issuance and follow-up order management. The position will be interface with our Engineering and Sales groups, and our vendor base to secure the best market price, highest quality product and on time delivery for all corporate procurement.

The Purchasing Agent will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager. This position requires a full-time work week spent in the shop/office in Mooresville, NC. Normal hours are Monday through Thursday 7:00am-4:30pm and Friday 7:00am - 12:00pm (Must be flexible to work additional hours as needed based on project requirements and deadlines).

Key Responsibilities

• General Procurement - Purchasing Agent is responsible for the process of quoting, analyzing quotes and procurement of "off the shelf" parts for production runs, raw materials, shop use equipment, consumables, and other purchases as needed.
• Machine Part Manufacturing - Purchasing Agent is responsible for manufactured goods procurement and follow through on orders. May be required to guide vendors on the details, material call out, coating requirements and drawings needed to quote and manufacture machine parts.
• Pricing Exercises - Support the Supply Chain Manager in budgetary planning/preparations for customer quotes or prototype/new product development by contacting vendors and preparing pricing exercises
• Documentation and Records - Maintain a record of all quotes, purchase orders and related documents. Produce reports detailing purchase orders, receipts, on hand balance and outstanding balance when required. Accuracy is critical.
• Material Resource Planning - All purchasing activities must be constantly and consistently monitored to ensure adequate material on-hand to support production requirements and satisfy customers expected delivery schedules while, at the same time, having no more material in stock than needed to improve inventory turnover ratios and minimize dollars invested in unneeded or unused materials. Use of MRP reports daily is required.
• Travel - Job will generally be performed in the office environment but may require occasional out of the office time to visit a vendor office or production facility.
