Qualifications

• 3+ years purchasing experience; automotive industry preferred.

• Knowledge of purchasing guidelines, USMCA requirements, and U.S. customs regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead purchasing activities: sourcing materials, selecting suppliers, managing bids, negotiating pricing and contract terms, and placing orders.
• Manage supplier activities through new product development and mass production, including engineering changes and supplier quality issues.
• Evaluate supplier performance and investigate shortages and quality concerns; coordinate corrective actions to improve quality, productivity, delivery, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with USMCA requirements, U.S. customs regulations, and tariff frameworks while supporting purchasing and supply chain operations.
• Analyze material costs, investment costs, price changes, cost-reduction opportunities, and parts localization initiatives to improve purchasing performance.
• Monitor purchasing KPIs, forecast potential supplier shortages, identify supply chain risks, and communicate updates to leadership and internal teams.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to support new projects and continuous improvement.

We are currently seeking a Purchasing Specialist for a client within the automotive manufacturing and powertrain industry.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to support sourcing, supplier selection, procurement, and purchasing operations for a manufacturing organization in West Point, Georgia. This role will manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and contract terms, oversee new project purchasing activities, and support supply chain operations from product development through mass production. The ideal candidate has strong analytical and organizational skills, knowledge of U.S. customs regulations and USMCA requirements, and the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring quality, timely delivery, and supply chain efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead purchasing activities, including sourcing materials, selecting suppliers, managing bids, negotiating pricing and contract terms, and placing orders.
• Manage supplier and purchasing activities throughout new product development and mass production, including engineering changes, parts development, and supplier quality issues.
• Evaluate supplier performance, investigate parts shortages and quality concerns, and coordinate corrective actions to improve quality, productivity, delivery, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with USMCA requirements, U.S. customs regulations, and applicable tariff frameworks while supporting purchasing and supply chain operations.
• Analyze material costs, investment costs, price changes, cost-reduction opportunities, and parts localization initiatives to improve purchasing performance.
• Monitor purchasing KPIs, forecast potential supplier shortages, identify supply chain risks, and communicate critical issues and project updates to leadership and internal teams.
• Collaborate with suppliers, department leaders, and cross-functional teams to support new projects, resolve supply chain challenges, maintain accurate documentation, and achieve continuous improvement goals.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of purchasing-related experience required; automotive industry experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required, along with a bachelor's degree or comparable work experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
• Knowledge of purchasing guidelines, procurement programs, U.S. customs regulations, and USMCA requirements.
• Experience with purchasing systems and supplier management, including sourcing, bidding, contract negotiations, and order placement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate supplier performance, analyze costs, forecast supply risks, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Excellent verbal communication, listening, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SAP, and VAATZ. Must be flexible to accommodate varying work hours and domestic or international travel as needed.

Compensation

Compensation: ($65k - $70k) Based on Experience.
