Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer / Applications Engineer in Dallas, TX to design, size, and quote custom industrial equipment systems. You will work with pumps, piping, valves, controls, and VFDs, serving as a technical contact with customers and vendors from concept through handoff.

The role emphasizes engineering problem solving, data analysis in Excel, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and compliant specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; chemical or electrical degrees may be considered.
• Experience with pumps, piping systems, valves, controls, and VFDs.
• Understanding of fluid mechanics and engineering calculations.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer specifications, project scopes, and technical requirements.
• Develop preliminary equipment designs and engineering solutions.
• Perform engineering calculations related to fluid mechanics, flow, pressure, and system performance.
• Size and select pumps, valves, piping components, controls, and VFDs.
• Prepare project quotations, cost estimates, and pricing proposals.
• Work closely with vendors on component selection, pricing, and technical application.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers during the early stages of projects.
• Support the sales team by providing technical expertise during customer meetings and proposal development.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Create and maintain project documentation, technical reports, and engineering records.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel and other engineering tools to analyze data, create calculations, and improve processes.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
