Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize work and collaborate with pump station operations and maintenance staff to accomplish goals.
  • Operate large pump stations, flood stations, and high river level pump station operations as needed.
  • Assist in pump station operations processes, procedures, and programs.
  • Perform QA/QC of overflow records and calculate overflow volumes.
  • Assist in contractor management for sludge and grit removal.
  • Collect data from pump and flood station equipment and processes; enter data into CMMS and logbooks.

Summary

The Pump Station Operator applies trouble shooting skills and acquired knowledge of wastewater collection and conveyance to successfully meet the overall pump station operation needs. Pump Station Operators also apply their skills to routine preventative maintenance of pump station facilities and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Prioritize work and collaborate with all pump station operations and maintenance staff to effectively accomplish departmental goals
  • Possess a working knowledge of all aspects of the SD1 pump station systems and assist, as needed, in the operation of large pump stations, flood stations, and high river level pump station operations
  • Assist Pump Station Operations Team Leader in the performance and management of pumpstation operations processes, procedures, and programs
  • Perform QA/QC of pump station overflow records and calculate overflow volumes
  • Assist in the management sub-contractor for sludge and grit removal
  • Assist in the collection of data for odor control program
  • Collect data from pump and flood station equipment and processes.
  • Data entry performed using electronic devices, special software and logbooks.
  • Monitor and adjust pump and flood station equipment.
  • Record and report all observations and adjustments appropriately.
  • Analyze station conditions and determine the optimal operating requirements.
  • Visual observations of station conditions as well as mathematical calculations.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and lubricate equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Perform physical tasks in maintaining the station operation
  • Perform grit removal, wet well dipping/cleaning, advising chemical feed rates, equipment maintenance, valve control, mixing of chemical additives, station clean-up, and equipment operation for trash basket cleaning.

  • Inspect, clean and maintain pump station grounds
  • Using hoses, chemical sprayers, outdoor power equipment and crane trucks.
  • Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices or Equipment.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, and commercial outdoor power equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain fleet to SD1 standards
  • Initiate work orders and requests repairs by writing work orders in computerized maintenance management system; ensures work orders are accurate and complete
  • Independently maintain certifications and licenses.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Completion of Kentucky N3Pesticide Applicator License within a reasonable amount of time

Completion of Kentucky Collection Systems License Class II within a reasonable amount of time.

Possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license
