Job summary

Flint Hills Resources in Rincon, GA seeks a Pulp Machine Operator to operate and monitor our pulp systems on a rotating 12-hour schedule, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. The role focuses on maintaining product quality, performing routine inspections, and supporting maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing/industrial environment or completion of a related program.
  • Ability to operate and monitor pulp equipment.
  • Comfort with computer and instrumentation interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment to defined standards and product specs.
  • Monitor centerlines and entry into control systems.
  • Daily inspections and sampling of fiber systems for brightness, quality, dirt.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance to optimize production.
  • Assist with routine preventative maintenance and cleaning.
  • Work with the team to meet production, waste, quality, and safety goals.
  • Operate around mobile equipment and follow safety PPE rules.

Job description

This is a position assigned to the pulp department. This position is primarily focused on working with, monitoring, and inspecting our systems. A Pulp Machine Operatorwill work a rotating 12-hour shift that includes days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.

The pay starts at $24 per hour with competitive benefits and no top out range on pay.

Our Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA began operations in October 1986 and is considered a world-class operation in the industry. Five of the world’s 12 largest tissue paper machines reside at the facility. Our operation is designed to produce products primarily from recycled fiber. We have over 50 converting lines that make the tissue, towel, and napkin products in our retail and away from home markets. Schedule

The Mill operates 24/7 and 365 days per year. Therefore, our mill operates using a 12-hour rotating schedule that includes holidays, weekends, and overtime. Our rotating schedule allows for a regular 14 days off every 4-week period.See example below:

DS=Day Shift 6:50 A.M.-7:10 P.M.

NS= Night Shift 6:50 P.M.-7:10 A.M.

O = Off

WK 1: DS,DS,DS,DS,O,O,O

WK 2: O,O,O,O, NS,NS,NS

WK 3: NS, O,O,O, DS,DS,DS

What You Will Do
  • Operate equipment to defined standards and product specification targets
  • Monitor centerlines and entry into computer control systems
  • Daily inspections and sampling from fiber systems checking for brightness, quality, and dirt count
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on equipment to optimize productionPerform basic asset care duties to include routine preventative maintenance and cleaning of the work area
  • Work as a team to help meet or exceed production, waste, quality, and safety goals
  • Operate and/or work around mobile equipment
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, which includes wearing required safety PPE
  • Perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day, in a loud/noisy, industrial, high-volume environment
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience using a computer, tablet, or smart device
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, agricultural, or military environment OR completion of post-high school education in a manufacturing/industrial-centered program
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment
  • Experience working in a paper/pulp manufacturing environment
  • Experience working a rotating shift
  • Forklift experience including loading and unloading trailers
