Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our ambulatory care team. The role involves collaborating with physicians to deliver appropriate treatment and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR.

Requirements include a high school diploma, current BLS certification, and a medical assisting credential (NCCT, AAMA, NHA or NAHP preferred). Experience in a clinical office setting and customer service is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification preferred; American Heart Association BLS preferred.
• Medical assisting certification required (NCCT, AAMA, NHA or NAHP preferred).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates critical thinking to understand and address patient care needs with available information.
• Communicates effectively with care teams, patients and families in writing and verbally.
• Assists in onboarding and continuing education of new nursing staff.
• Supports care navigation and education on treatment plans and resources for patients and families.
• Documents accurately in the EMR and adheres to policy for patient care.
• Prepares patients and records required clinical information in the EMR.
• Monitors medication and supply expiration dates and storage conditions.
