Job summary

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Sleep Center, Baxter, MN, seeks a Pulmonologist to join our rural Minnesota team. The physician will diagnose and treat cardiopulmonary diseases, interpret tests, and coordinate care with surgeons.

A four-day work week with no required on-call and flexible hours is offered in a rural setting. Qualifications include an MD/DO, 3–7 years of pulmonology residency, board certification, and a Minnesota license.

Qualifications

• MD or DO medical degree with pulmonology training.
• Board certification in pulmonology required.
• Current Minnesota MD license.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients to understand symptoms and health concerns.
• Diagnose and treat pulmonology conditions (e.g., COPD, asthma).
• Interpret pulmonary tests and imaging to aid diagnosis.
• Maintain detailed appointment notes and test results.
• Refer patients to thoracic surgery when needed.
• Advise surgeons on patient risk and interventions.

AASM Accredited sleep lab, sleep opportunity available but not necessary

Pulmonologist Responsibilities

• Consulting with patients to understand their symptoms and health concerns.
• Diagnosing and treating conditions, such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema.
• Using and interpreting pulmonological exams and tests to aid in the diagnosis of cardiopulmonary diseases and conditions, including CT scans and bronchoscopies.
• Maintaining detailed notes of appointments with patients, including comments, tests and/or treatments prescribed, and test results.
• Referring patients to cardiothoracic surgeons, when necessary.
• Advising cardiothoracic surgeons of the risk status of patients and recommending interventions to minimize risk.
• Providing support and advice to patients receiving long-term care.

Qualifications: Pulmonologist Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO).
• 3 to 7 years’ internship and clinical residency training, specializing in pulmonology.
• Board Certification by The American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary Medicine.
• Valid and active medical license in Minnesota.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communicator who can empathize with patients.
