Job summary

UC San Diego Health is hiring an experienced registered nurse (RN) to join the Interventional Pulmonology program within a Magnet-designated environment. The role involves assisting with bronchoscopy, EBUS, thoracentesis, and other procedures, coordinating outpatient clinic care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to educate patients and families.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire.
• Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated recent nursing experience in Pulmonary Special Procedures/Interventional Pulmonology or GI, IR, ICU, and/or Perioperative Services in an acute care setting OR ED/PCU/IMU with Charge RN experience within the past five (5) years.
• Moderate sedation, and care coordination experience.
• Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonaland communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to allstaff and patients.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results, particularly in the areas of moderate sedation, and pulmonary procedures.
• Demonstrates experience with or interest in providing individualized care to vulnerable populations.
• Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with special pulmonary procedures in inpatient, outpatient, and OR capacity (bronchoscopy, EBUS, navigation bronchoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, pleural catheter placement, chest tube, tracheostomy).
• Coordinate outpatient clinic and procedural care for Interventional Pulmonology; partner with multidisciplinary team for education and care plans.
• Coordinate medication refills and communication of test or procedure results; observe sterile technique when acting as OR circulator or scrub.
