Job summary

Atrium Health is hiring for the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Pulmonary Diagnostics position. This full-time role involves 40 hours per week with 8-hour shifts and requires CPFT within 6 months and RRT eligibility.

The technician will perform arterial blood gas sampling and extensive pulmonary function testing. Ideal candidates have AMA respiratory care training or NBRC eligibility, plus 1–2 years of pulmonary lab experience.

Qualifications

• Graduates from an AMA program for respiratory care or NBRC registry eligibility as per admissions policies.
• One to two years of work experience in a Pulmonary Lab and/or Respiratory Care Department preferred.
• CPFT within 6 months of hire and RRT by NBRC; state licensing as an RCP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital standards and promotes teamwork through professional communication.
• Obtains arterial blood gases for acid-base and oxygenation status to aid diagnosis and treatment.
• Calibrates all equipment daily to maintain accuracy with equipment specs.
• Supports quality improvement activities to uphold lab standards.
• Administrative duties include supervising students and providing clinical instruction.
• Administers pulmonary function testing including spirometry and flow-volume loops.
• Administers six minute walk test, pulse oximetry, oxygen therapy and nebulizer treatments.
• Ensures patient care is age-appropriate according to guidelines.
• Administers medications during testing per protocols.
