Job summary

Job description

At Essen Health Care, we care for that! We are looking for a skilled Pulmonary Function Technician (PFT Tech) in the Bronx to perform diagnostic pulmonary testing and support providers in the diagnosis and management of respiratory conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform pulmonary function tests including spirometry, lung volumes (plethysmography), and diffusion capacity (DLCO)
• Prepare and educate patients on testing procedures
• Monitor patient safety and comfort throughout testing
• Accurately document and upload results into EMR
• Assist providers with interpretation and reporting of test data
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot PFT equipment
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and quality standards
• Maintain infection control and equipment sterilization procedures

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred
• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) preferred
• Prior experience performing pulmonary function testing required
• Knowledge of pulmonary diagnostics and respiratory care practices
• BLS certification required
• Strong attention to detail and patient‑care skills

Preferred Experience

• Experience with both adult and geriatric populations
• Familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC a plus)
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced outpatient setting
