Baptist Health Floyd, Respiratory Care is seeking a Pulmonary Disease Navigator to support COPD patients and their families within a multidisciplinary team.

This full-time daytime role involves clinical assessment, treatment coordination, patient education, and involvement in quality improvement projects to enhance pulmonary care across hospital services. Location: New Albany, IN area.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an AMA Accredited Respiratory Program.
• Bachelor's degree from an AMA Accredited Respiratory Program preferred.
• CRT or NBRC exam completed; if not RRT, must obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Indiana State Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
• BLS certification required (training provided).
• ACLS certification within 12 months of hire.
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire.
• Three (3) years job related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory diseases and conditions; perform diagnostic test procedures.
• Assist in departmental operations and quality improvement projects; contribute to pulmonary disease program development.
• Follow applicable rules and regulations as required by the state of practice.

Summary

The Pulmonary Disease Respiratory Therapy Navigator provides clinical support, treatment access, education and coordination of patient-centered care to benefit the patient, family and multidisciplinary physicians while helping achieve optimal outcomes for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary (COPD) patients and their families. This position will serve as the navigator for the medical inpatients that have a diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and other pulmonary disease. Work with Pulmonary Clinic to provide targeted care and education for these patients.

The pulmonary disease educator is a respiratory therapist that assesses, treats, and monitors patients with respiratory diseases and conditions. As part of patient assessment and management, the therapist performs diagnostic test procedures. In addition, therapists assist in departmental operations by assisting with quality improvement projects and development of the pulmonary disease program. The pulmonary disease educator follows all applicable rules and regulations established by the licensure board depending on the state in which respiratory therapy is practiced.
