Job summary

TechMagic with Cathy Hackl is seeking a publishing production professional to oversee the end-to-end production and publishing workflow for web and print content. The role focuses on coordinating assets, editing, and ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards.

You will work with authors, editors, and partners, manage page proofs, and maintain content accuracy, metadata, and distributions to libraries and indices. Strong English and CMS skills required.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred and a minimum of three years publishing experience.
• Proven editing and proofreading skills with high attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of publication processes and schedules.
• Ability to collaborate across teams on multiple projects and workflows.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate content assets using a content management system (document submission, component, and web).
• Compile material for web and print publication of journal articles and issues according to a defined schedule.
• Respond to and resolve a wide range of queries from authors, editors, and publishing partners.
• Coordinate author and editor reviews of page proofs; proactively correspond with authors, editors, and publishing partners to ensure deadlines are met.
• Copy edit books, journals, magazines, eNewsletters, and online databases.
• Edit images (resizing, scaling, cropping) for web and print, tagging content for composition.
• Compile and compose e-mail newsletters, composing pages of books, final programs, datasheets.
• Optimize PDFs, add metadata, and upload to online publishing content management system.
• Convert source documents for web publishing (ebooks and downloadable documents).
• Proofread and verify accuracy of content for web and print.
• Archive electronic and hard-copy assets.
• Coordinate distribution of published content to Library of Congress, abstracters, and indexers.
• Ensure ASM standards and styles are met and products are high quality by using provided tools: product standard operating instructions, ASM style guide, The Chicago Manual of Style, Associated Press Stylebook, composition specifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
