Job summary

The State of Louisiana's Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking a Welder for District 02 Operations, stationed at the Bridge City Mechanic Shop. The role requires welding proficiency across various equipment and materials, with responsibility for safe operation and maintenance of welding gear and service records.

In addition to hands-on welding, you may operate mobile equipment and complete daily reports.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience or training in the welding trade.
• Completion of a Technical Diploma or Associate of Applied Science welding program from a Louisiana Technical or Community College or equivalent program.

Responsibilities

• Preliminary duties include taking measurements, drawing or laying out materials to be cut with torch or welded.
• Grinds/cleans materials to be welded or after welding to produce finished quality product.
• Brazes, welds, fits and/or installs welded parts onto equipment/structures as necessary.
• Designs, fabricates and/or brasses a variety of items.
