Job summary

East Hanover Township is seeking a Laborer for the Department of Public Works and/or Water Department. The role involves maintenance of parks, roads, and township infrastructure, including snow plowing and operation of small equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a NJ driver license (CDL preferred or obtainable within 6 months), and be available for weekend shifts and 24/7 emergency responses with 1-hour notice.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NJ driver license or CDL or ability to obtain CDL within 6 months.
• Availability for weekend duties and 24/7 emergencies; must respond within 1 hour.

Responsibilities

• Operate small equipment including skid steers, small tractors, and backhoes.
• Inspect and maintain Township Parks and property and fields.
• Assist in Public Works and Public Utilities departments as directed.
• Operate or learn to operate heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Be available 24/7 for snow plowing and cross-department support.
• Mow lawns, cut trees, and chip vegetation.
• Inspect and maintain sewer systems, service lift stations, pumps and hydrants.
• Inspect wells and water service lines; install/replace water meters.
